I'm currently rooted but have not installed the skyrider rom.. And I would like to know if I'm going to receive the update notification even if I'm rooted.. Or if I have to unroot my incredible to get froyo??

So long as you have the standard recovery you should be perfect... though I suggest getting clockwordmod, installing Unrevoked forever so you can get root back with 2.2 and flash the standard recovery back.

Yes there is Unrevoked3 which roots, but unrevoked forever is the NAND unlock which turns S-OFF and allows you to flash whenever you want.

I was hoping someone could help me out here. I recently rooted my inc and installed the wireless tethering, I wanted to know if I have to unroot my inc in order to download the froyo. And then how do I get the wireless tethering back on my phone? I appreciate any input or suggestions.

Hope the OP doesn't mind but I have another question and figured I would just post here rather than start yet another thread...

OK, this might seems silly to ask, but will I get the update notification while on wifi? I use wifi 100% of time while at home.

Yes you will get it while on wifi, you are still connected to the mobile network when on wifi. It is actually suggested that you download the update while on wifi.

When you have wifi on the phone still connects through the cell networks. (Other wise you couldn't receive phone calls.) I read some where that the phone targets wifi as the primary source (if you have it, which you do) for getting data.

When using wifi on the phone, I find it hard to believe that the phone would completely shut out the cell network data wise.

More and likely the update had to be first approved by verizon and is being pushed on verizon's network through OTA. (Over the air.)

I'm only guessing, I really don't know. (I honestly thought the same thing today regarding wifi, but I figured I should get it sooner or later.)

Sorry for the dumb question but if you are rooted and are already running a 2.2 version, why would you want to unroot and install the offical update? Not asking to be a **** I am just curious. What is the benefit of going stock and getting the update over staying rooted and having roms and full customization?

Zahhak.ts if you are referring to me, I'm running 2.1 at this time and yes I rooted my inc in order to get the wireless tethering. But I don't know if there is a way to get the update without loosing the wireless tethering which is the most important thing to me. Thanks again for your input
