I've been checking for the update all day and it just keeps on saying "Checking..." everytime I click "Check Now", within HTC Software Update. Even when the update is live, it still has this message and just stays stuck there. Does anyone else have this problem? It's not even giving me a notification that there is no update, or if there is one available. My Evo isn't rooted, and I never messed with it.

Just to make it clear, when I press "Check Now" it just continuously says "Checking..." and just stalls, with the icon just continuously spinning, till I press the back button. I've left it on for up to a half hour and it still stays stuck there.

I feel you on that man. same here. my phone keeps saying that the phone is up to date and doesnt even recognize the update. Can somebody help 2 brothas out.

The thing is that my phone doesn't even say that it's even up to date, it just stays stuck at the "Checking..." screen and doesn't progress at all.

Someone did post the offical build that was released today on these forums try looking for that

So I had the same problem. Do a hard reset.

The first night I actually got the update and tried to download and it failed twice. I was trying to download it over wifi and was getting a signal but wasn't happening, turns out my gf unplugged the modem for her hair dryer, so I was getting a signal from the router but nothing else.

Anyways I thought that was the problem, kept trying for several days and the same thing, just checked, I would even leave it on over night. I got fed up with it enough that I did a hard reset after searching on these forums (setting --> privacy), it deleted all my personal information but once it came back on I checked for updates and what ya know! it worked! Im downloading it right now. Ill have to download all my apps again, but I think it is worth it and think you all will think its worth it too.

Go have fun kids.

I had the same problem, and as mhpspeed said, a hard reset is the only way I found to get it to work.

Plus, it makes the update process a lot less proned to problems if you update from a fresh install with no user data.

Just go to Privacy under settings and do a hard reset.

I did the hard reset twice and still is a no go....

Yep, looks like the hard reset fixed the problem. It sucks that I had to lose all my applications, but I guess it's worth it for Froyo.
