Welcome to Android Central forums. Everything with your screen looks good, you're running an official version of Android, the bootloader seems to be locked, etc etc.

Is this connected to a PC for this download, or are you using an SD or some other method?

How long has it been stuck like this?

Did you initiate or was it initiated some other way?

Is this device plugged into a power source? What was the battery level when you started?

Some devices require a certain battery level to perform updates because it doesn't want the device to die while in a critail part of the process. If somehow the percentage dropped while in this act it may have frozen due to power levels. I would try plugging it into a charger and giving it a bit more time, provided you're not using the charge port for the download. Another thing to consider would be, while it can be dangerous to cycle the power on a device in the middle of a process, your device says it's still downloading. Powering it off and retrying the download may be your only option. Then before you try again be sure to stop all background apps by closing everything in you quick launch tab and restarting the device before initiating the download again. What I mean is, not counting this time where you're going to force the device to turn off, power it on, and the power it off and back on again. These extra restarts will help end any processes naturally and hopefully provide a safe environment for the download. Also be sure your battery level is above 60% or keep it on the charger while performing these actions.

Out of curiosity what is the download? I mean that is an unusual screen to be on for a normal update. If you're trying to do your own update, be sure the update is for your device and the version of the device you have. This is usually done based on the model number. The same device can have multiple versions and subtle differences in the model number can call these differences out. Yours might have an R while others have a U, things like that, and trying to install software for a version of the device you don't have can be bad too. Although you usually see that once you get to the installation part, but it's something to think about.

Good luck and best wishes.

Hey AC members, it's me with a problem again! I don't know what I did wrong but now my Samsung Galaxy Tab s8 is frozen. I can tell you exactly what I was doing when it locked up on me, ok? I was browsing articles via the media screen from Google News. I clicked on one from Tom's Guide, a movie review of Heretic. While I was reading a pop-up tip appeared to "save it later" only I didn't read it I thought it was notifying me of mail or something. However, when I tapped it, it took me back to the GN screen. Then the Tom's Guide article had a black box over it that said saved for later. I had to drag the box up and away from the article in order to access it again, which I did. The box appeared on the page and was in my way, so I tapped it and clicked the X in the corner to close it, and that's when it froze. I can move the cursor and speak to Bixby only nothing happens. The page won't scroll up/down or anything. I tried turning it off/on but it opens to that frozen screen. I asked someone to try holding down the power and volume buttons but I don't know if they did it correctly or for long enough. I have asked my nurse if she'd carve out a minute for me, but so far she's not come back. 🙄 So, I am hoping someone here will know what to do. Any advice for me guys? 😮‍💨 Oh, after all the above details I had the tablet put on the charger.

TIA,

Steph
