Just an FYI... I called my Sprint store and they said that just because I pre-ordered a Evo 3D it does not gaurantee I will recieve one Friday. I dont think this is news to everyone but just incase you didnt know that here ya go. They also said they got a shipment of 50 of them. So I will be there right at 8am hoping to be one of the first 50. Do you think I should get there earlier than 8am?

UPDATE: I called the same store and talked to a different rep and got a different story! Ugh! Anyway, this rep told me I WAS gauranteed a phone on launch day. Lets just hope he was the one who knew what he was talking about.

If it were me, I'd be there before 8am. But I'm someone who hates traffic and waiting in long lines...

I don't have to worry about it though because mine should be here within the hour :D

I should have pre-ordered. The only problem is I am doing a return and purchase of the 3d. I didnt have an upgrade but convinced my fiance to leave T-mobile and come to sprint. So i have to return her 4g to get my 3d and didnt think i could do that online as part of the pre-order on the 21st. Anyway, I will try and get there around 730am and just cross my fingers it isnt a madhouse! I dont feel like spending all morning tied up with this

I am just assuming they will hold the pre-ordered units and not sell them to the first Joe in the door. That would be kind of bs, but then again, it is Sprint. Would be very annoyed knowing that someone who did not pre-order walked out the door with my EVO.

That being said, how long will they hold the pre-ordered phones for prior to selling them to those who didn't pre-order?

On the contrary ... If you Pre Ordered by putting a $50 deposit in the form of a gift card you are absolutely guaranteed your device on launch day with Sprint ... Your source is totally way off base ...

Well the source was the Sprint Rep in the store. However, we all know they are wrong a lot of times. Anyway, if that is what he told me and he is the one selling them that day, who knows what that means. For example, will he just sell them to whoever is in line at 8am.

I heard differently. I called my local Sprint store today and they said as long as I bought $50 giftcard and my name was in system, I could come in as early as 8 AM on Friday, and they would hold all preorders until Sunday for pick up.

So each store is guaranteed inventory to fill all preorders on day 1? No.

However, inventory is supposedly more than ample, this time, but does anyone really know what day 1 allocations for each store really is? I doubt it's a problem, but I also doubt it's a guarantee. Hopefully each store is able to manage it such that they can fill all pre-orders on day 1.

All stores were to contact the pre order customer 3 days prior to the 24th to set up appointment times ... I can pretty much say with confidence that no one who has a pre order gift card will walk out without a device come Friday.

exactly right.

When I pre-ordered at Best Buy, I asked the rep "Are you 100% positive that I will be getting this on the launch date?" and he replied "Yes." I then added: "Let me be clear: I come in through that door on the day of release and I will walk out of here with my Evo 3D." He said "That's right."

Having said that, I have yet to receive a call from Best Buy regarding the pick-up (I heard many others have gotten that call). Although my phone is on it's way (UPS), if I had gone to Best Buy on Friday and the rep told me they didn't have a phone for me, i think I have a right to punch him in the face.

[Note: When I pre-ordered at the Sprint Store (just to be safe), the rep told me I should expect to get it 2-3 days after launch since I was a bit far down the list. Yesterday, however, I got a call from them asking if I'd be picking it up on Friday. Since I already bought it online, I declined.]

I can tell you with confidence that I have a pre-order card and was not contacted 3days prior to the 24th. I can also tell you with confidence that I am repeating verbatim what the Sprint Rep told me. However, is it possible he didnt hear me when i said "pre-order", potentially. Also, it could just mean he sucks and doesnt know the protocol and will sell to people that potentially didnt get pre-orders

EVERY store will have ample devices ... They may not have enough for the masses but they will have well over the amount they need for the pre orders and the next 100 people that may want them also ... I'm speaking of corporate stores not kiosks or third party sellers.

Don't get me wrong ... I am not saying this person didn't tell you what you heard ... I am saying that person is off ... I don't work for sprint but I have been with them long enough to know how they operate ... They say delivery is 2-5 days then your package is on your door step tomorrow ... They say it's not a guarantee that you will have it launch day but then you walk out happy as hell on launch day ... This way their customer satisfaction rating soars through the rough .

I will update the original post. However, I call the SAME store and talked to a different rep and they told me I will be gauranteed one on launch day. How is it two people from the same store have different stories! I am a little more at ease. However, it still scares me that the d-bag that said i wasn't gauranteed one might sell it to whoever because he will get a commission off of him and not me

I know I will have my two on Friday. I have an appointment and have been assured that all people who have preordered at the store will have their phones set aside for them. If they can't make it in on Friday, then they have to call the store's manager to make an appointment change so the phone can be held and not sold to walk-ups. I love my Sprint Store. I even learned about rooting from one of the reps who has a rooted EVO Shift and EVO 4G. My only issue has been a new hire, but he is still learning the ropes so I won't give him a hard time.:p

I totally agree...I did not pre-order but I am about 99% sure I will get one on Friday. There are about 5 different options available to me within 5-10 miles. I am positive many of these options will receive more than enough to cover the pre-orders and then some. THey may run out over the weekend but I am positive I will be able to get one friday morning.

My store said they got 50 instock and it is in a fairly populated area (i.e. just outside Minneapolis). However, 50 seems like more than enough to get them through the weekend and pre-orders. I would hope

Exactly, I live in Raleigh, NC...very populated. There are probably about 3-4 sprint stores within 15mins from my house lol I'm not worried at all, that baby will be mine come Friday morning.
