So, I unwrap a shiny new Epic, perfect slider, perfect GPS, perfect Keyboard, perfect perfect perfect. I buy it, and am totally satisfied. Well, until I get home and I play Asphalt 5 - realize the accelerometer is waaaayyy off. One tear falls from my eye. Some idiot at Samsung must have calibrated the thing on a rollercoaster, or installed it upside down or something. But, all is well, I found a fix. Tears stop, and I am even more in love with my android. You will need root for this fix if you have this issue. You will need to recalibrate the system accelerometer. The directions are written as follows:
1. Obtain Root (How to's are on this forum somewhere)
2. Download a terminal app from the market
3. Enter one line at a time.
su
/system/bin/sensorcalibutil_yamaha
4. Follow the onscreen directions, while making sure you device is flat.
5. You are all set! Original link
