G-Board being a battery hog

Has anyone else been dealing with G-Board consuming a ton of battery? My charge has drained noticeably faster the last few days but I'm not sure what's up. I've tried killing the apps causing the most drainage and even restarted my phone a few times. Facebook I get (that's always been a hog) but I don't know why the keyboard has been using so much.

I haven't checked my battery stats in ages because battery life is just so good who cares anymore, but that's not right. Something is flaking with your gboard.

Nope. Just once today and it was just a "picked the first one I saw" thing.

Are there any updates on this? I have been having the same issue on a Pixel 2.

Nope. No issues since shortly after I posted this. G-Board isn't even showing up in my battery usage list anymore. Not sure what the deal was.

Can't say I've had any battery issues ever with Gboard but I've never had any battery issues at all that I can blame on anything but my usage.

Nothing on mine either. I type quite frequently but don't see Gboard in the list of most used apps

I haven't seen Gboard being a noticeable hog so far. Glad it's not happening for you anymore!

Never had Gboard being a battery hog on any device and same with the Pixel 2 XL, no issues.

This started happening to me a couple of days ago. Did a reboot, didn't seem to help. Maybe a bad update, searched the Internet and couldn't find any recent reports. I like the larger emoji's with the latest update, but I don't like that it's killing my Pixel 2 XL battery.
