Yes, it is indeed the sad story of this device. I bought my g2x contract-free in April directly from T-mobile. Thought I was making the best purchase with its dual-core capability, quadband HSPA+ spectrum and full-hd recording...
it was the biggest mistake:
1. T-mobile had falsely advertised the quadband. I am a frequent traveller to Asia, Europe and Canada and this limits the networks I can get on now for optimum use.
2. Problems with reboots and screen freezes, extremely poor battery, poor connectivity both on wifi and data (sometimes I have to restart the phone several times to get the internet working again)
3. I upgraded to gingerbread a few days ago using LG Update Tool. The device's internet connectivity seems better. But battery is just dropping dead.
I don't recommend anyone getting this phone as it seems the entire g2x product line is defective. Going to fight for a refund now and recover some damages.
