G3 Camera Noise Reduction - Low Light

Looking to upgrade after dropping my G2 and breaking its screen, and the G3 is on the short list. Taking pics, particularly indoor family ones, is a priority though, and I'm concerned that the G3 camera has the same slow shutter speeds in low light and relies on the same noise reduction software that left a lot of my G2 pics horribly smeared. Looking through the G3 photo thread, I didn't really see any examples that would set my mind at ease. Any feedback from real world use?

I find in my experience the G3 to be one of the better optics in low light. This may be become a thread of varied opinions though.

The auto settings are aggressive with the noise reduction. I get around this by using HDR in low light, which prevents the low light mode from being used. You will have more noise, but better details. The G3's threshold is 1/9 for shutter speed and 2900 for iso.

I haven't taken a ton of lower light/indoor photos yet, but it's definitely better than the G2 I had. The laser focus allows the shutter to go faster and the OIS keeps it steadier. The flash is still a little obnoxious, and slow, though.

Ive also noticed it tries really hard to take the picture without the flash, as much as possible.

Thanks for the tip. Its either this or the M8, since I can't wait for the new Moto, and I'm leaning G3.

Sorry for waking up this old thread, but i wonder if somebody can tell me is G3 better than G2 in low loght photography dye to laser autofocus and ois?

My old G2 is taking tons of time to focus in low light situations, pictures are often blurry, unusable
