G4 Drop Test

Ouch!
If you're one of those people that drop your phones....get a case...atleast a bumper if you don't want to cover the back

"20% more resistant to drops" they say.... Definitely still getting a case for this one.

I refuse to watch. Don't drop the G4. Don't drop any phone in fact. It's obvious that if you drop a phone, it either will, or might, damage it. There's no need to actually try.

Drop tests are pointless. Say it doesn't break. Doesn't mean yours won't from a similar drop.

Well that curved display really helped...

Didn't watch it, but assuming from the replys that it didn't look too good lol

Wow, that was painful to watch... my heart actually skipped a beat. The "drop on its corner" test did very well, with just a minor scratch/dent to the metal part of the bezel (where it meets the screen.) The "drop on its front" test did not fare as well, with the screen quite shattered... but the phone body was OK and the phone still worked. This tells me that a good glass screen protector should do the job -- just based on the drop test. Although a bumper case would probably be best.

Can't agree more.

A drop may do nothing to a phone, or it might shatter it and render it useless. I don't get these drop tests or why people put weight into them.

If you want your phone to work - just try not to drop it.

Very true, I had a Samsung Note II, in a slim hard case, that I had dropped a few times, was my first large size phone, it hit the concrete a couple of times from my hand as I was talking on it, dropped it down a 4 step stairway outside, again on concrete and the stairs were metal, no damage at all, then one small drop from no more than 2 feet, inside on a fake wood (read plastic) floor and the screen shattered. So no drop test equates to real life use.

Exactly. What would it mean if they dropped it 18 times without the screen shattering? It would mean they were lucky, nothing else.

At least a single data point is proves nothing. For entertainment purposes only.

I find them interesting. It's nice to say just be careful and don't drop it, but me personally, I've come to terms with the fact that I'm a bit of a clutz. My phone is going to get dropped a dozen or more times in the two years I own it. Always curious to see how fragile a phone might be. Obviously i know they are anecdotal, but interesting nonetheless.

Just get a thin case that is a bit taller than the screen so that when you drop it, it falls on the case and not the screen. It's not obtrusive (at least for me) and will stop most cracks from happening :)

Pointless. I never understood the reason got this.

Base on luck. Seems like to promote selling cases. LOL

I sure am looking forward to dropping my caseless, unprotected G4 when I get it. I'm going to drop it about twenty feet onto concrete. What more obvious thing to do with an expensive piece of precision micro-electronic equipment of superb quality?

I would have to agree with what is mentioned already in this thread
That is if your screen doesn't get cracked consider yourself lucky.
I have dropped a couple or previous owned phones before they were not in a case and no screen was cracked.
I just got lucky on how they landed .
I do use light weight cases at times(TPU type cases,or bumper type), but not always. :)

Drop tests are great because it ruins a perfectly good phone! Just like will it blend?!?
