I've been looking for a phone to replace my not-too-old Droid Turbo. I wear hearing aids, and I can't hear the Droid Turbo worth a darn. So, I'm looking at the G6 and the G4.

I couldn't find any information on the compatibility rating of the G4, so I did a chat with the service rep. Here's what she said (which likely makes me a G6 customer). Transcript unedited.
================
Anne: Hello Mark. Welcome to LG Electronics U.S.A. Support only. How may I provide you with excellent service today?

Mark : What is the hearing aid compatibility rating of the new LG G4?

Anne: Hi there! Good Afternoon. How are you doing?

Mark: Good. Just need information

Anne: Sure. What is it?

Mark: What is the hearing aid compatibility rating of the new LG G4?

Anne: I see. Let me go ahead and check that one for you.

Mark: Still there?

Anne: yes

Anne: Checking

Mark: Still waiting.

Anne: as per checking there is no compatibility hearing aid rating

Mark: So it is incompatible with hearing aids?

Anne: it is

I don't remember what it said, but there was a setting for people with hearing aids. I'm sure someone who isn't at work could find it pretty quickly and post.

It appears to be compatible. Under call settings, there is a box to check for hearing aids. It is on my ATT phone, but here is a link showing how to get tehre from a sprint phone...same as mine LG G4 User Guide

The option is not in the UK H815 model. But looks like it's there for sprint

Might want to check your specific carrier. Because the option is on my AT&T G3.

I've got a T-Mobile phone here.

Confirming there's a hearing aid option under Settings > Network > Call.

Compatibility means the magnetic field around the earpiece. If your hearing aid doesn't use that method, the rating doesn't mean much. (A lot of current aids use Bluetooth to turn the aid into a BT handsfree.) Mine (not cheap junk - the best Widex made at the time) didn't have a built-in loop, so my choice is listen through my ear or put the earpiece of the phone up against the aid's mic. Neither is really satisfactory (but then, as an aid-wearer, you know that a hearing aid is never as good as a working ear), and neither depends on the compatibility of the phone with an aid.

Most carriers have phones in the store that are activated. You can use the phone to make a call to hear the call quality, etc. So don't depend on some clerk's inability to find your information and just brushing you off, go into a store and try a G4 with your aid. That will tell you if the G4 is compatible with your aid in your ear. You're not listening to the rating number, you're listening to the phone. (Most of them also allow you to switch phones within 15 days - you don't like the G4, you can change to a G6.)

This is INCORRECT! Go to your Apps screen. Locate and invoke the "phone" app. Touch the three vertical dots in the upper right corner. Touch settings. Touch "Accessibility", and then go to the bottom selection (2nd selection) where it says, "Hearing Aids, Turn on hearing aid compatibility", and put a checkmark in the box.

Why do you guys keep saying that hearing aids are incompatible with Moto G4 cell phones? Ask somebody!

You're welcome,

Brad Crouch
