I tried using my Samsung fast adaptive charger and I get the error message please plug original charger. Couple other people have gotten the same error when using other QC chargers. We've been updated that the g4 does support qc charging so wth is going on?

Do you have this problem with quick charge 2.0 certified chargers? Or just with the Samsung adaptive charger?

Fwiw, I have seen this on the Samsung adaptive charger, but removing and plugging back in fixed the problem. I didn't see this problem when using qualcomm quick charge 2.0 certified chargers.

I think the phone is just picky about chargers. I bought a Samsung charger and it would only charge at USB speed. The 3 or 4 QC chargers all worked as expected.

A lot of people have posted good experiences with the Anker charger. The Aukey charger is also supposed to be good.

Both are currently available for $10 on Amazon, using coupon codes shown on their Amazon pages in the "Special Offers" sections. There is a thread here about the special pricing.

Interesting, I used my wife's S6 charger when I first got my G4 and it said the same thing. Then I tried it out a few days later and it worked and charged in the QC mode. Finicky phone

That's weird because for 2 days it worked on one of my Samsung chargers at qc speed but now it doesn't work

I also have a Samsung adaptive charger. How can I tell whether the G4 is charging at QC speed?

Use an app like Ampere (for a live display of charge current), or preferably like Battery Monitor Widget (which can record charge current data, and battery %, battery temperature, etc, with the screen off, and can graph it, and so on). Then compare charge current with the stock charger, and with the QC charger.

It's best to do this with the screen off, as having the screen on will typically trigger the phone to charge more slowly, due to managing heat. Thus masking any improvements.

Most definitely do it with the screen off. I noticed about a 20% improvement.

Per Ampere, I notice with the Samsung charger, the voltage is 4.4 and standard charger is 4.2. Doesn't seem very significant.

Quick charge 2.0 uses 9/12v. With that said the system might not show the input voltage from the charger.

Is this Ampere Pro or something? I have the free Ampere, and the only voltage I can seem to find on mine is the voltage of the battery. 4.4V would also be the fully-charged battery voltage.

If you'll forgive the silly question, you're sure it's displaying the input voltage from the charger, and not showing the battery's voltage, right? I would like to be able to see the input voltage, especially if I just need to look somewhere else in an app.

It is definitely battery voltage. Pro won't add that info either

OK, so I'm a bit confused about the Quick charger vs the stock charger.

When plugged into the Moto Quick charger, ampere shows roughly 650 mA. When plugged into the stock charger that came with my phone, Ampere shows 1600 mA. I'm confused????

FYI Great deal for this qc 2.0 charger for < $10 http://slickdeals.net/f/7920311-tro...mm-certified-6ft-micro-usb-cable-9-50-ac-fsss. Gotta love same day shipping for this afternoon :)

Edit: Got the charger and plugged the G4 in at 7:19pm with the battery at 65%. Left the phone alone and came back to check it after 10 minutes at 7:39pm, which shows it at 88%. So +23%. Would that be a decent jump?

I assume you meant you left in alone for 20 minutes since your times are in bold. 23% in 20 minutes is 1.15%/min which is pretty good since the highest verified on the G4 that I have seen is 1.2%/min.
