G7 and unresponsive screen

I have G7 model and I have had it where the screen becomes unresponsive. The only fix is to restart the phone. It has happened 3x alone this month. Got the phone last Sept. Any ideas of why is is doing this?

Can try safe mode , possible 3rd party app causing this .

I can try it with safe mode. The only thing is I don't know when it will happen . It's fine 1 min and then it's not

Are you using an SD card? Sometimes a faulty card can cause this kind of issues.

Yes I am using an sd card. I will see if I have any spares to test it out with

If the problem persists you could try unmounting the card temporarily and see what happens.

Keep us posted.

Next time it happens and right after restarting the phone go to the Play Store - My apps & Games - and select 'Last used' just in case there's some rogue app running in the background causing that problem.

When it happened this time I was using Chrome and the text app.. but I will go in and look at that info for sure

Also, keep track of what app you're using when the phone freezes. If it's consistently the same app, then either uninstall that app, or clear its cache/data, then see if the problem comes back.

I have removed the SD card and removed a few apps that are not used often. It may be a bit to see if this makes a difference since it wasn't predictable on acting up. I'll post as I find out anything

A bit of an update:

So far so good about having the phone screen working as it should. I waited 2 weeks before adding the SD card back. After a couple of weeks I'll add 1 app at a time to see if it can be pinpointed

Well crud, screen just frozen up. I was using chrome and the texting app at the time. I didn't add back any of the apps that I uninstalled when I first made this post...

I am using the sd card (128gb San disk that is coming up on 2 yrs old) and it was cleared and formated while it was out of the phone on the trial run

So maybe that SD card is corrupt

It might be. Seems like they don't last very long or I have had bad luck with them lately. I'll grab a new one and see if the issue continues..
