Galaxy 6 edge -Messaging problem

Any time I try to test to a new contact or new number I have not texted to before, I get an error message "Unfortunately Messages has stopped". I have cleared cache and wiping cache partition

I really do not want to have to do a factory reset!!!!!!

Hi there!

For troubleshooting purposes...try downloading a third party messaging app from the play store, like Textra. See if it continues. Honestly, if you've done the cache wipe....and its still occurring, that i'm afraid there's really nothing else to do but to do a Full Factory Reset. Just be sure to back up all your data if you do. Using apps like, Samsung Smart Switch and Helium...makes it pretty easy.
