Hi..I have searched and searched and cannot find an explanation. I do a lot of walking and cannot quite distinguish what the difference is between walking and hiking when selecting a workout on the watch. I have considered installing Strava on the watch but it is reported that it drains the battery quite a lot! Does anyone know the difference between walking and hiking as a workout? ;)

I have the same two exercise options on my Fitbit Versa. For me personally, I think of a hike as more strenuous than a walk - significant elevation changes, rougher terrain, etc. If I'm walking my dog through the neighborhood I select "walk" ... If we go to a trail in the mountains then I select "hike".
Just my $0.02

Tx and I agree with this view. I was however wondering more in terms of a technical difference on the watch. Does the one use GPS, the other not? Does the one offer more info than the other? Does the one read certain sensor data differently? Why would you select one over the other on the watch?

Ah, that makes more sense LOL Responded prior to being fully caffeinated
