Galaxy Express 2 export from sim

Hi
I have a Galaxy Express 2 sm-3815 with Android 4.4.2 with Vodafone.
When I try to add a contact to a group, it only shows the contacts on the phone, not the ones on the sim.
I have tried to export the sim to phone, but when I touch 'Contacts' then the 'Menu' button I only get the following options:

Delete
Accounts
Speed dial setting
Send message/email
settings

The import/Export option is missing.
What can I do?

Welcome to Android Central! If you tap Settings there, is there an Import option in the subsequent menu?

No - all I get in Settings is

Only contacts with phones
Sort list by
Display contacts by
Service numbers

Was the SIM in another phone before, and you saved contacts to the SIM?

No, it's only the latest ones that I can't add.

No, what I meant was, did you move the SIM card from an older phone, and if so, had you stored contacts onto the SIM using that older phone?
