Hi Guys,

I had my first day with my Gear today. I charged it all night and put it on when I got up for work at 4am . I've read numerous reviews and people seem to be getting about 24 hours battery life out of it but I only got 7 before it started moaning about low battery, by 2pm it was completely dead. It didn't even last the duration of my shift. My phones battery surprisingly held up fine even though everything was turned on. I didn't even play with the watch much since I was working and I've got the screen brightness set to 2 and time out to 7 seconds.

Can anyone think of a way to eek out the battery a bit longer? I love the device but it's pointless if it won't last over a 12 hour shift. :(

Hmm that's weird. I would maybe recommend that you turn it off when you're not using (ie. when you're asleep). Not sure why it's draining that fast.

I use mine during the day, but like somebody has already recommended, when you are not using it, as in taking the watch off at night, shut it off. Or like when I come home, and I am getting ready to do something work around the house, I shut it off. I have never ran into low battery.. However, I had a Gear before this, and because I didn't know a lot of about the watch somethings didn't look right to me. Such as with you and the low battery. I returned my first gear, and got another. Then I found out, it was nothing wrong with the first one, it was USER ERROR..

If you are with in your return window, for peace of mine return it, and get another one.. Most likely there is nothing wrong with the Gear, but if you think it, that's something right there. Return it for another one, or if you decide the Gear is not for you, just plain return it.. For me, I think it is great. Battery is good too. I don't expect it to last as long as my Note 3 on battery, after all, I have a large battery in my Note 3.

I've turned it off to charge it now. I think I'll give it a go like that. I don't really want to return it, since the update it's great and so fun to have.

I left my phone on a shelf at work so at times it kept disconnecting because I went out of range, I wonder if this could cause the battery to run down faster.

If it was trying to connect and disconnect alot all day that would drain battery, also I keep my "auto screen on" off. With it on the screen is always coming on when I don't need it to. If I want to look at screen I press the button. I don't push emails to it,, I don't even push emails to my phone. I've gone a few days without charging the watch like this. Turning it off at home when not using of course.

THE BEAST,,NOTE 3. SIZE IS EVERYTHING!!!

I've notice after the first few charge cycles the GG lasted longer. I get through all day (10+hrs) at work with mine and like others have mentioned without heavy use.

I charge mine every morning before I shower to go work (24 hours) and it is always at 82% when I put it to charge so I only lose 18% daily but I power it off while I sleep.

IMO, that is the best method. Charge it in the morning as soon as you wake up. LIke I said before, the thing charges super fast.

I'll try that. I turned it off all night and charged it for 12 hours so hopefully it will be fine today. I've had it on 2 hours and it's lost 2% battery so it's doing better than yesterday already. Fingers crossed it lasts the day.

Don't think the Gear needs 12 hours to charge! :D You can turn it off, and IMO, in the morning let it charge for about half hour, it should be 100%. IMO, use it all day, and when you get home, if you don't plan on using it in the house. Just turn it off. Then in the morning, most likely when you wake stick it on charge. I am sure 15 minutes will bring it to 100% or if you really do want see how far you can go, just turn it off when you get home, and this time in the morning, don't charge it, just turn it on.. I am almost sure it will carry you through two days. BTW, it is 10:30 am, I charged mine this morning at 4:45 am.. Left the house at 5:15, mine is showing 98%. Yup, no calls, just look to see the temp. :D
