hey guys, can anyone help me figure out why the top of my galaxy nexus gets hot quickly while playing games, and not even for long, its gets hot quite quickly, i've seen the temperature of the cpu reach above 120F

so if anyone knows please help me, thanks

I would assume it varies based on how much the game stresses the processor. How do you know is reaches 120 degrees. What are you using to measure that? Are you using a case that may not dissipate heat quickly like one that covers most of the phone and is made of rubber?

i use the app temp monitor on which is gives me the details on the temperature of my my cpu, and i dnt use a case

the reason why i am worried is becuase even when playing simple games and not too graphical the hpone still gets hot quickly

Mine gets really hot too at the top but I don't have a temp app to give exact numbers on it. I've been wondering if I should be worried. It seems like it can't be good for the internals. I'm very hesitant to call Samsung, since if they even look at it, it will be weeks without a phone for me and they likely will just send it back to me the same way after all that.

Mine gets hot too. Not enough to worry me though. Every phone I used has gotten hot. My nexus s especially. Seeing that the Gnex is all plastic its going to get warm/ hot. But it quickly cools off when I'm done playing graphic heavy games.

Sent from my Galaxy Nexus

thats very true, it does cool down real quick, i guess i shoouldnt worry too much, thanks for all the info :)

Once it starts getting hot, the cpu is governed down to help control the temperature. So if your phone is running at 1.45 ghz and it starts getting warm, the phone will limit the maximum to say 1.3 ghz and so on until it stops getting warmer. But it still makes me nervous when my phone gets warm sometimes. :p

I have an android phone too! Within a few days, i noticed the phone would get too hot to touch but i thought i was just overracting. There is an app called cool down phone that could probably help a little with your problem.

Its normal. This is coming from someone who used to have an Amaze which I jokingly called the convenient hand warmer.
