Galaxy Nexus (later, maybe) vs Galaxy SII (now)

So I want a Galaxy Nexus but as you all know Sprint doesn't have it yet and the way things are going they may never have it. I have an upgrade burning a hole in my pocket and with Christmas coming this would be the perfect time to for me to say I want to spend $300 on a new phone.

I do like the feel and look of the of the GSII but I don't really care for TouchWiz all that much. I also like the idea of getting updates right from Google. I do root and put CM7 on my phone and I know that the GNex will have a lot of development to support it.

My Evo 4G is still rockin' with CM7 running but I really love the thin light feel of the new Samsung phones.

As you can read I am torn quite a bit and I need some advice from my friends here at Android Central. What do you guys think?

Are you committed to staying with sprint? If not, switch carriers and get the Nexus. If so, I do think that sprint with get the Galaxy Nexus eventually since they already make a CDMA version for Verizon.

The SGSII is a nice phone. Touchwiz grows on you and if not you can use a launcher to customize.

Thanks. I'm leaning towards getting the GSII and not waiting. Now I just have to find a good price.

I would just get the S2 with spring. In many ways the hardware is superior in the S2 line of phones. I wouldn't worry too much about getting updates directly from google either, the dev community on either of the phones is going to be massive. You'll be able to customize the phone exactly how you want it. I can't imagine having such a powerful phone and choosing to leave it stock regardless of the carrier. I truly feel sorry for anyone who does that; as good as these phones are out of the box the devs are going to make them absolutely incredible.
