Alright, so I'm not saying either is better.

One is tablet and the other is a phone/tablet. I'm just wondering if my needs of wanting a tablet will be fulfilled by just getting a note 3 or will I really still want a tablet? Like most of us, I have a smartphone and a laptop (macbook air), but still want a tablet to use for reading/responding to emails, games, video streaming, etc.

Just wondering what you guys think and do any of you have a note/phablet as well as a tablet?

Thanks!

let me give you a suggestion.... buy a Moto X and a Nexus 7.
period!!! thats the best combination ever. you get the phone which is awesome, still can do what a note can do.

and nexus 7 for your tablet need.

Thanks for the suggestion!

I'm not really feeling the Moto X though, I don't like having an android phone with no expandable memory. I know the nexus 7 doesn't either, but thats a tablet.

I have a Note 2 and a 2013 Nexus 7... My note 2 goes with me everywhere and is used for personal and work. My Nexus 7 is purely an entertainment device for at home and travel.

Guess that answers that. Note 3 and the Nexus 7..

Damnit lol

I have a Nexus 7 FHD and plan on getting the Note 3 on day 1. The Note will be my perfect note-taking companion, and my Nexus is my media and game device.

I don't know. I have my stupid-fast-n-sliq S4, the oh-so versatile Note 8.0 LTE, and this here pure-n-light Nexus 7. I think that may be a more winning combination.

I've gotten very used to having a pure unadulterated and "always-up-to-date" Android operating system. I don't see myself going back to having a provider overlay their garbage on top of what I'm experiencing with my Nexus 7.

Therefore my next phone to really complement my Nexus 7 must be, without a shadow of doubt, the soon to be announced Nexus 5.

Having both TouchWiz devices and Nexus devices I can see the performance of pure Nexus. ...and while it is faster my Samsung devices perform quite well and have functionality built in that Nexus doesn't offer (i.e., OTG functionality, SD card access, built-in easy system font switching). I'm glad I have both pure and "feature" devices.

I am the same. I like having a slightly different experience on each device. To me, that's another thing that I like about Android over iOS. In iOS, you get the same experience on every device. You basically just get a choice of screen sizes and whether you want a phone radio or not, but it's basically the same across them all. While some people like to have a unified experience across the board, and there's nothing wrong with that, I do not prefer that.

I will also be getting the Note 3 on day 1 to go with my Nexus 7 (2013).

I returned my Nexus 7 to get the this Sony Tablet...I like it better but I'm glad I got to try out the Nexus 7 for a few days.

How is that Sony tablet ? When I saw the videos about it, I was blown away, looks amazing. Light, thin, waterproof, Micro SD slot, amazing display. I just couldn't afford the purchase, plus I love the 7" form factor of the Nexus 7 2nd gen. But if I wanted a larger tablet, the Sony would be what I would want to get.

So far I'm tickled pink with it. I really like it.

My new Nexus 7 is precisely why I'm no longer considering a phablet.

I've been relatively happy with my Galaxy Nexus as a phone, but have been keeping a lookout for info on the next Nexus phone. No real complaints with the Galaxy Nexus, other than possibly a little sluggish.

Bought the Nexus 7, and now barely use my phone, so sticking with Galaxy Nexus until I get the impulse that I just have to have the new Nexus phone. I say this all to explain just how amazing the Nexus 7 is. Yeah I'd like a new phone, but phones have become far less compelling as consumption devices after six weeks with the Nexus 7. I'm actually quite surprised that I made this transition, but I have. If I need a data connection while out and about, I'm using Settings Extended app, which puts a portable wifi hot-spot toggle right in my notifications window. Easy peasy.

I agree with this combo....I was a heavy apple person, and still enjoy my iPad for many uses, but my moto x & Nexus combo are my go to devices

Same here except I have the 2012 nexus 7. Only use the note 2 for phone calls at home , everything else is done on the nexus 7.
