After connecting a brand new 10 ft USB cable to my Galaxy Note 4, it charged my cell phone up to 90%. Immediately the phone turn off by itself. Now it doesn't turn on. Afterwards, I connected the OLD cable to my Galaxy Note 3 and the cell phone started charging. I disconnected the OLD USB cable and inserted the NEW 10 ft USB cable, and my Note 3 stopped charging immediately and didn't power on anymore.
I have a second Note 3 battery and inserted it to the cell phone, then connected the OLD USB cable and started charging again. I didn't connect the NEW 10 ft USB cables because I knew it was going to messed up my battery.
My question is: How can a USB cable, NOT the charger, can damage my batteries that way? If this happened to someone else, please provide some comforting advice on how to possibly fix my problem, or maybe I should buy a new Galaxy Note 4 battery and throw away this dangerous 10 ft USB cable.
