Galaxy Note edge

This could be interesting.

I'd like to see what features, if any, the curved screen brings.

Don't even try and put a case on that phone. I just don't see how its possible without leaving that right side open.

Good point. I first thought people who are right handed might have a tough time with the device as the curve is on the right. People will have to change they way they hold it to avoid making some kind of action. The idea is different.

This is a very difficult phone for me. First off, the edge makes for another angle of risk of screen damage. 2nd comes the way you have to hold it. Third is the plastic body. Even though I have a Note 2, I would like to move away from that. It feels very gimmicky and I think having it for longer than a month might make me feel sad that I didnt go with the Note 4.

On a side note, i wonder if this thing would play with the Gear VR

That would be my main concern. Don't want to imagine what screen repair cost for this would cost. The second concern would be inadvertent app launching.

Curious to see what widgets for the edge screen come with the phone and what developers can imagine.

I watched the hands on ( Samsung Galaxy Note Edge hands-on | Android Central ) after posting that. Im looking forward to playing with this device in the store. I imagine since the edge is its own screen with a seamless edge repairs would be a pain (definitely not something i'm going to try at home) I'm still not sold one way or another on this device as much as it intrigues me, it scares me.

I can see some type of case that it slides into from the right side, leaving the entire right side open. This phone is very intriguing indeed. Note 4 or Note Edge, hummmm....

I'm intrigued but will wait for reviews and see what it's like in the store before even thinking about upgrading from my Note 3. Also the Note 4 has the VR Headset which IMO might make it the better pick... I think I'm more interested in that than the curved side of the Edge but we'll see...

Would you call it a gimmick if apple were the first to put this type of phone out?

Having a curve edge does this change the handling of it? One of my issues with the Note series lately is the size.

This is the best advice. Let's at least wait for the phone to come out before we make a decision on it.

I'm envisioning an "S-View" style case, where the view window is over the curved edge, and follow the curve of the phone

I wonder if I can customize the edge with any app or is it limited to certain apps? I also wonder if I can launch the apps from the edge without unlocking the screen
