I'm hoping this forum will let me post this here as it's the closest to my Galaxy model that I could find. I just bought a Note Pro used, and was setting it up when I noticed I couldn't log into the PlayStore to install an app, I checked the date and time and found Feb. 2014! It's supports both a cell and wifi connection, I don't have the cell SIM installed, I thought it would auto-update the time and date over wifi. Is that incorrect? I tried turning off auto time/date and auto TZ, selected the TZ and entered the time& date manually, re-enabled both auto swtiches, it went back to 2014. If I don't install a SIM is it correct this will never pick up the time and date from wifi only so I should just set it manually and leave the auto switches set to OFF?

What's the exact model number in Settings>About Device?

If this is the Galaxy Note Pro 12.2, it's a 10 year old device that stopped getting updates a long time ago (I think the highest official Android version it got was Lollipop). Really old devices have lost support for the Play Store, so regardless of the date/time issue, you probably won't be able to use the tablet for much in terms of apps.

You could consider installing a custom ROM like Lineage, which might help solve some of these issues: https://wiki.lineageos.org/devices/v1awifi/

Yes that's the model I have a newer tablet, I just wanted a cheap one I could carry in a backpack to take notes and save to pdf. I'll look at custom roms that would be a fun project, thanks.

If you run into problems trying to install a custom ROM and are still interested in a decent inexpensive tablet, consider the Lenovo Tab M9, which goes for around $100 these days. I have one, and it's quite good -- perfect for casual browsing, reading, and media consumption.

Thanks, I wish I'd come across that sooner I would have bought one. Thanks.
