Ya, the CPU is only slightly faster than the Snapdragon, but the video totally blows everything else out of the water. The problem though is the lack of games for Android. Especially since only the GS has this much power, there probably wont be too many games that take advantage of it.

Well the Motorola X also has a fast GPU, the Neocore score is like 45 fps.

Where can I find these sort of comparisons? I'm always confused with one handset for another and wanted to find a good site that compares the mobile chipsets to each other w/ meaningful details- not just part numbers.

You just gotta see them in action. Check out youtube. there's one on there showing the captivate against the n1 in 3d benchmark (GL Benchmark 2.0). N1 with JIT/2.2 still can't keep up with Captivate's GPU.

I've seen plenty of videos- I'm a tech spec guy- if someone says this:

Is that FACT or is that an exaggeration? I've not seen gpu or linpack tests with 2x the speed so where does this come from?

the only thing I have to go by on the gpu benchmark is that the guy in the video states that the Droid X performs about the same as the N1 in the GL Benchmark 2.0, which the Captivate blew it out of the water. I haven't seen a direct comparison myself between the two phones.
Linpack is raw computing power. On 2.1, I don't think you'll notice a significant difference between any of the 1Ghz phone. The difference is proven with 2.2 on the N1. Its linpack scores are 3-4x higher than all of the other 1gz phones on 2.1, due to JIT being enabled.
