Hey folks,

I have read some similar posts but the filename bcmdhb.ko is not found on the subject phone model. I'm assuming I need to remove a certain file from the phone because it has become corrupted (can't turn on wi-fi, hard reset did not fix it). Can someone please provide the file location and what exactly to do with it once found?

Thanks!

that 'bcmdhb' message pertains to the driver necessary to interact with the Broadcom WiFi chip in your phone's logic board.
That's an indicator you've been dabbling at a pretty low level of the installed Android OS. Manually restoring an individual driver file will be something of a daunting project.
It might be easier to just flash the stock ROM, that will restore the entire Android OS with a clean, unaltered version. Go here, choose the appropriate firmware, and when you go to the chosen one there's a link to a page with details on how to do the flashing process.
Be sure to pick the ROM that exactly matches your particular phone (i.e. SM-G990U or SM-G990U2 or whatever). It's vital to pick the matching ROM, they are not interchangeable. Don't pick one that's kind of close or that you prefer, it has to correspond exactly.
