Galaxy S24. Cannot answer incoming calls, no matter how much I tap or swipe the green icon. Why? What can I do to fix this?

I'm not directly familiar with Samsung's Phone app, but does it usually require swiping horizontally or vertically? You've tried it any direction?

I've swiped in all directions and nothing works. I've even talked to an iphone user with the same problem. I'll try safe mode if I can get there fast enough to answer a call. Thanks.

It just started happening? U use a screen protector and cracks on the screen?

Temporary suggestion is to use Bluetooth earbuds to answer calls until u figure out what's going on

Have you tried anything other than swiping and tapping?

In normal operation, can you confirm this area of the even works?

In the phone app, tap the 3 dots>settings>call display whole using app, and try one of the other sizes and locations.

Have tried clearing the phone app's cache? If it was an update or system change that caused this you may just need to clear the cache. To clear the phone app's cache open settings>apps>press the sort button and enable show system apps>go to the phone app>storage>clear cache. If you wanted to you could also clear the data and while I'm fairly sure that it won't cause you to lose and call data it will undo and setting changes you've made.

Have you cleared the system partition cache? Again if caused by an update this is another that can give users buggy behavior.

Have you tried simply restarting the phone? This is another overlooked simple thing for users. Restarts are good for devices. They close apps, stop processes that aren't needed and restart those that are and it clears many of the caches in the device.

Give some answers, let us know what you find, and we'll offer other advice.

I've had this problem for months at least, but it finally became annoying enough that I decided to ask about it. when I tap or swipe the answer or hang up icon, the icon flickers or something (this is nighttime now and I don't remember the precise details), but it doesn't do the operation (answer or hang up). There have been a couple of updates since I started paying attention to the problem, but no change in the behavior. There is no damage to the screen or any other part of the phone. IIRC I have answered the phone when I had an app open, like reading on the kindle app. It just doesn't work when I've closed down with the side button.

Try clearing the phone app cache then force stop it , if still an issue clear it's Data and force stop

It works! A tap and swipe combination I never considered. While finger still on the tapped icon, swipe away horizontally. Thank you all for your help. Without your conversations, I never would have found the link that mentioned that. I don't remember the link, but I tested the suggestion and it works.
