Galaxy S3 or S4?

In several weeks I'll be in the window for upgrading my Epic 4G Touch to something better. My preferences are the Galaxy S3 for $0 or an S4 for $100; each with a renewed 2-yr Sprint contract.
Which is better and why: S3 or S4? Thanks

Sprint was just offering the s4 at best buy for 49$ the moto x for free and the G2 for 100$. I didn't get the price on the Nexus 5

While the s3 would be a nice upgrade for you I would never recommend it. It's just so outdated. Many nice phones out there for good deals that you should look at first

The S4 is a better overall phone than the S3. Camera, screen, battery, and software features are all upgraded on the S4. Other good options are the LG G2, Moto X and Note 3.

If I were you. I would wait till next year. Rumor rabbit says around Jan, the S5 will be announced and during Feb/Mar it'll be released for the market. its only a few more months.

Yeah, S4 or wait and see what the S5 is like. The S3 is a great phone but now almost 2 years old. Besides the hardware, the S4, while the same physical size as the S3, has a larger screen than the S3.

S4 is loaded with bloat, I'd grab the Moto X, Nexus 5 or wait to see if the S5 is worth it.

Depends, on your money situation - $0.00 for an S3 is pretty nice and hard to beat, but it is an old phone. I have a rooted stock 32gb S3 with a 64gb card and I use it for everything and I am still happy with it - even with Touchwiz, it is still pretty quick.

I would have upgraded to an S4 myself, but Sprint didn't have a 32gb version :-(

If you can wait, maybe look at an S5 - although, if it is physically bigger than an S3/S4, I don't know if I could handle that size - because then you might as well go to a Note 3. But it gets down to how you use your phone. Dang, after reading what I just wrote, my answer is no help to you at all. I am a confused procrastinating dweeb.

That $49 deal at BB may be gone. Looked today and it's $200.

Thanks much to all for your suggestions. Looks like the best strategy for me is to wait a little longer for the S5 to hit the market, then look for a $50 price for the S4.

What's going on guys? I found this site through an add on crackberry but the G1 is one of the phones in my arsenal so I thought I'd have a look see at the community. I work for T-Mobile too.

I say the GS4. I think Radio Shack and BestBuy have it for $50 with a 2 year contract on Sprint.
It's definitely way better then the GS3 on every aspect.

I'd probably choose to stick with the S3 now, just so I can continue to run the MOAR ROM. The S3 is fast enough, and most of the new features of the S4 don't matter all that much to me. If you're not inclined to root, though, I'd wait for the next sale on the S4. The S5 will be pricey when introduced.
