Galaxy s3 shut off when I plugged the charger in, now it won't turn on at all!

I purchased my s3 about a year ago, and I started having problems recently. The phone wouldn't charge unless you did specific things, like wrap the cord around the left side and place a book on top. I plugged it in last night only to find it shut off. This has happened before, but it will usually charge then turn on after I unplug it. Last night though, the charging icon didn't come up. I tried to turn it on, but to no avail. What do I do??

Welcome to Android Central! The things you had to do to charge it recently suggest that either the cord or the microUSB port were starting to fail. Try using a different cable. If that doesn't work, then you may have to bring the phone to a repair shop to test out (and possibly replace) the port.
