My verizon galaxy s3 is taking 8 hours or more to charge completely and it's annoying. it use to be around 2 hours and 30 minutes. Is this because of the new update? i swopped out the USB cord and it still charges slow, on the AC wall and laptop. I also made sure i am not missing any pins on my charger cable. Sorry if there is already a thread on this.

Doesn't sound good. I would report it to Verizon.

How do i report it to verizon? thanks

I would just call up their tech support and tell them the problem, ask what they have for a solution. Theoretically, they have to file that call as a report of some kind. If you are within your warranty, I would also call Samsung.

I have had this phone for at least seven months. I think i'm passed the warranty. Thanks, i will call them up.

It's worth a try. The worst they will say is you are right. Unfortunately, I think it is something physical like the cord or port on your phone.

That is what i'm thinking also. But i'm stuck with this phone for another year or so. Also, the battery temperature is around 85%, i don't know if that is normal because i recently got a new case

Re: VZW GS3 taking 8 hrs or more to charge...

The warranty on the battery will not be the same as the warranty on the phone. Batteries will only warranty for like 90 days. You will, I imagine be told to buy a new battery as I was told. I think the only batteries VZW sells for the S3 are the standard battery and you can buy batteries for less money elsewhere. I decided to purchase this one http://www.expansys-usa.com/samsung...ry-kit-for-galaxy-s-iii-3000-mah-blue-241090/ which still gives you the NFC and does not bulk your phone up as much as other extended batteries. If you use a case on your phone that can be a little tricky to find one which will fit.

Very good point. For the OPs sake, I hope it is as simple as the battery.

Just wondering if there was a resolution of sorts to this? In the past week, my phone has began to charge a lot slower than it has previously (my phone is only 6 weeks old). Also, i have received the notification that an update was available for my phone (which i deferred) during the same timeframe.

Re: VZW GS3 taking 8 hrs or more to charge...

it's the charger you're using I have the same problem and I notice that if I use a different charger it charges faster I have 5 different chargers n only 2 of them charge in 2 hours the others don't

Re: VZW GS3 taking 8 hrs or more to charge...

I'm using the charger that came with the phone. Is that a common problem with the Samsung charger?

I was in your same position - My phone would take all night to charge on the oem charger and still be at only 80 percent  So I decided to disect the problem by swapping out

1. the outlet and trying a different one (didn't work)
2. the AC brick to see if that was the problem (it wasn't)
3. the micro usb cord to see if that was the issue (it was)

So the cord was worn out after being used for about a year and thats why it wasn't charging good, swapped it out with a new usb cord and it was all good

Id try to isolate the parts of the charging process before assuming its your phone that is broken :p

Hope this helps you!
