Galaxy S4: Earpiece not working for phone calls, only speakphone.

my new galaxy s4 - i can only hear callers when it is set on speakerphone. What am i doing wrong?

Have you ever used the headphone jack with earbuds/headphones? Possible the jack port has stuck/malfunctioned and is causing the earpiece not to function, I have seen this before.
