Galaxy s4 mini keyboard stops working with no errors displayed

The keyboard stops displaying characters in the screen but predictive is responding to key presses
If I reset the keyboard works fir a short time then stops again
I have tried alternative keyboards to the stock Samsung keyboard and they all do the same
Any ideas?????

@dave1706 - If you're running a theme or have an app that does some theming, then you could end up with a keyboard background that is the same color as the characters on it. Both of my S4mini's use the AOSP (Android Open Source Project) keyboard, which provides theme choices via:

Settings > Language & input > Android keyboard > Appearance & layouts > Theme

If one of your keyboards has such choices, trying them 1-by-1 might give insight toward finding a solution.

B diddy safe mode worked, so looked at wm7longs idea of a theme
Exactly the issue removed it and works perfectly.
