Galaxy S4 Performance Issues (Release software)

So, been reading this thread and the previous one about the lag. I'm currently on a Verizon Motorola Droid Bionic that I'm ready to upgrade. It's laggy, opening up facebook, browser (Chrome), SMS, whatever sometimes takes 3 to 4 seconds. The S4 looks good, but I'm worried about this lag issue. Did that OTA fix it to the point where people are happy with it, or do you still need to change developer options, turn off some sensors, etc?

Thanks,

Chuck

There are threads like this about lag on all the various s4 chat boards. So, I an certain it is a serious problem for many. My S4 is very snappy though. Zero lag, stutter, etc.

I use Nova, turn off most of the Samsung features (which are gimmicks, IMO), and have disabled as much VZW and Samsung bloat as possible, turned off animations in developer options.

Now, I know that is not how many of you would like the phone setup, but I am not the type to root or flash rooms and I wanted the phone to function mostly like stock Android. The speed and smoothness that results is just a side effect.

One odd note: I had a lot of screen redraws running apex. I find that suspicious. My less powerful Nexus 7 has never had a redraw.

My GS4 doesn't lag at all. I disabled most of the Sprint apps. All the Samsung features are on. And I'm a heavy to medium/heavy user. The phone isn't rooted and is stock TouchWiz, no launchers or anything like that.

I'm downloading the new software version for the AT&T s4 as of 7-9-13. Same on sprint got. My s4 was snappy to begin with but will post if something changes with this version.
