Hi hope some one can help.
I've had my s4 for a few months now, and been pleased with it.....but, since my wife has got her s4 mini.I've noticed that vibrate does not work at all on my phone. Reading a few posts on here, I've checked everything that says vibrate . But still no result. The phone has never been dropped or messed about with the software, only the regular updates.

Hope this is something simple that I've missed

Cheers

This isn't a great answer but you may have to factory reset the device.

Have you installed any 3rd party apps that may control the vibrate pattern?

Thanks for reply. The only apps I've installed are ones from play store, but if one of these were to control vibration I wouldn't know where to start looking. I assume factory reset would erase all data and settings.!?

Yes factory reset is a fresh restart. Before doing that. Go through the recently installed apps and possibly uninstall them. The reboot your device.

Are you rooted?

Sorry I'm unfamiliar with some terminology, what is rooted? I've just installed version4.3. Do the apps appear in installed order?

No problem. Rooted is when you can exploit and use every capability of your device. Change this and that. It's a major change over a stock device.

I take it that you aren't rooted. Have you gone into settings... Sounds to check options there?

I am not rooted then. Yes ive checked vibrate settings and all are on max and the menu where you can change the vibrate pattern when I select a different pattern where youd expect a demo of your new choice, cant feel anything .

IF it's not vibrating at all (even for calls) do a factory reset , but if u miss the haptic feed back only , uncheck the power saving mode :D

Is it fair to say that an app ive installed, wouldve changed the vibrate option or just corrupt something somewhere then?

Yes correct.

If you were to call Verizon customer support. They would have you check the same options we are suggesting. Then just ask that you factory reset. If that doesn't work...they would more than likely toss you a replacement device.

looks like it is an issue with the phone as have done factory reset without syncing apps etc and same issue persists. hope the shop can repair the phone quickly.

Hello Phil,

I have the same problem with my Galaxy S4 phone. No matter what I do it fails to vibrate when I get a phone call or text msg when set in the vibrate mode. Where you able to fix your problem. Do you know if any of the people who gave you advice on this forum actually work for Samsung or have any credentials?
