Galaxy s5 bluetooth Media audio selection switching off upon insertion of usb cable for android auto

I am using a galaxy s5 with a pioneer avh 4200nex. Bluetooth audio streams fine when not connected by usb cable to launch android auto. As soon as you plug in the cable, the media audio selection in the settings for the pairing immediately turns off.
