I was trying to root my METRO PCS galaxy s5 SM-G900T1 (Lollipop 5.1.1) using the CF-Auto-Root method. I tried this method because it worked on a friends S5. Everything went ok on Odin I got the pass message, but when the phone tried to boot It got stuck on the Metro PCS screen. If somebody has any idea of what can I do please let me know. Thanks in advance.
Same thing happened to me something about 5.1.1 that wont let phone boot after root process. but i was able to Root and install twrp recovery on my metro pcs galaxy s5 on android 5.1.1... With chainfire's cf auto root metro klte file. Here are the steps i took.
1) power to download mode, connect to odin.
2) flash cf auto root, phone passes, phone boots, but stuck on galaxy s5 boot screen. (Will not fully boot).
3) remove battery, power into recovery mode, on stock recovery factory reset phone. Reboot phone.
4) phone boots, but still stuck on boot loop. Remove battery again.
5) power into download mode, you will notice Knox counter tripped to 0x1 and phone status will now say custom instead of official.
6) reconnect back to odin, and flash twrp recovery img. phone passes, boots up, and still stuck on galaxy s5 boot screen. (Don't panic!). Remove battery again.
7) power phone back to recovery mode and you will see twrp installed.
8) In twrp recovery i full wiped the phone and installed custom rom and gapps.
I know its a process I'm sure there might be an easier way. But this worked for me. Now my wife can install any custom rom for galaxy s5, Cm 12.1 runs flawlessly on the phone now.
