Galaxy S5 does not allow me to text to a number, unless it is a phone number

I wanted to sign up for coupons at JOann Fabrics, I had to text "coupon" to a number (not a phone number) and I get a message failed response. Same with McDonalds codes. Any idea how to correct. I used to be able to send text to anything/any number, but now I cannot.

Try to clear cache on the messaging app

You might want to check with the carrier to see if certain numbers are blocked and can't be sent.
