Launched on the 11th of April, 2014, the Samsung Galaxy S5 is now 10 years old today!

In my opinion, one of the great Samsung Galaxy phones I have owned. Up until 2 years ago it was in daily service with my little brother until he bounced it off some concrete.

I doubt that there are too many of these in use today with its 5.1" screen, 2GB RAM and Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 chipset but I have fond memories of it.

I had a white s5 with a white Spigen Slim Armor View case. The case hinge broke & I kept a rubber band around the case to keep the cover on.
🤣
Apparently, I was very thrifty.
(I have never purchased another Spigen case.)

The S5 was my first Android phone after leaving the Blackberry world.
😄

That looks nice. Too bad the case was so flimsy.

My wife and I have had the S-5s since 08/19/14. Her screen messed up right after we purchased them and was repaired under warranty. I had to replace my power button last year. Outside of that they have been very dependable. Have been thinking about some new ones but being 83years old I don't relish the idea of setting up a new one.

I`m 64 and still have mine working, only ever replaced the charge port Once and the usual batteries, am annoyed that it is a 4G phone that is supposed to be good until 2030 in Australia, but now they bought out VoLTE and i need to either get around it or buy a newer one.. Grr..... As for your worry about setting up a new one, if you download and use "Samsung Smart Switch", it works fine on an S5 and nearly every other android phone, you can copy ALL of your contacts, texts, calendars and even make it look the same as your S5, i did it for a 78yo widow of a friend in a shopping mall, works like charm and takes less than 20 minutes.

I tried that awhile back when I stupidly deleted the cache and data on the TouchWiz to try and improve the reaction time. I have been having problem with Smart Switch on our S5s. It worked perfect when I used it on our Tablets. We now have a 5g tower not far from our house and my son's newer phone kicks butt when he is here. Mine is also running 6.0.1 which is way behind. Just need a basic phone as we don't watch videos or play games. Mainly for calling and texting and emails. The tablets or good for everything else.
