Dears,
I have a problem with my GS5
After I got it it synced the apps from the play store and after that I found it so slow and lags a lot so I installed an app to know what is the problem and I found out that the RAM consumption is always 68%+ and if some apps are running it reached 84%+
I killed all of the apps and still the same
After taking a look over the running apps and services I found out the 90% or even more of the apps running are Google's or Samsung's

So anyone faced this issue ? or is it only me ?
You recommend a hard reset or what ?

Thanks.

Hey mate, I have the same problem even when I turn off all applications my Memory is full and I need to do reboot so it can start working again. Most irritating thing is that when memory is full I can't unlock the screen so I need to reboot phone or to try at least 10 times. With s4 I've never experienced this problem even with lots application turn on but this s5 drives me crazy, and I have it only for couple days. I hope that Samsung will find some solution for this or I will sell the phone soon.

Hi Guys

The way android works it is supposed to constantly take up as much Ram as possible, this enables everything to run smoothly

If it wasnt using it then it would be wasted, and whenever you open an app that requires more RAM, the android system automatically tells itself to use less to accommodate for your App.

However If you are experiencing such large lag issues I would consider checking you havent downloaded anything weird or returning the phone as My phone hasn't really experienced lag unless I deliberately confuse it (like opening heavy apps then closing them before they have opened and locking and unlocking the phone like 10 times in quick succession)

I noticed that on mine as well...people say don't worry but it really lags my phone even with a hard reboot..it uses 1.24GB/1.81GB. I wrote to Samsung hoping to get a better response. Will let you know what they say.

I mistakenly deleted default cache cleaning app installed on ATT version. Please give me the app name to download again from playstore. I was using it to clean the cache which improves empty RAM space.

That's not a good idea at all. You don't need an app to clear cache anyways, you can do it from your phone. But why? And you don't want empty RAM space unless you like a phone that lags and stutters. Is that what you want?

I would not suggest using any cache cleaner, ram booster, battery saver, anti virus, lookout, etc etc. It's all a scam.

The phone works best when RAM is maxed out and your cache is heavy.

DO NOT mess with the RAM, the Task Manager or the Cache *especially* if you've already noticed this hasn't fixed ANYthing that you are complaining about.

The number one probable cause is some of your synced apps from the Play store. Many that are marked compatible with Android 4.4 have not actually been tested by the contract/sweatshop development teams and are causing nasty CPU and battery problems. Look for apps that recently got a ton of 1-2 star ratings.

Ignore the RAM usage entirely, for more than five years it's now normal to keep the memory full. It doesn't use more power to keep RAM full and it makes programs load fast when things are working properly. If you factory reset it will run smooth again, then sync your Play apps and it will begin lagging. Your problem is in the apps themselves.

For all of you who are experiencing slowness, it might be that you have Power Saving Mode on. I turned it off and the phone is back to running smoothly.

Hmmm....never thought about how much of an integral component RAM is. So let me ask this, considering I have no download or synced apps just reset, why when I start doing my normal excel file it shuts down due to "not enough memory" a quarter way through?

It's true that you should let android manage the ram. BUT, i still think there's something wrong. I can't even jump between 2-3 webpages or apps without them reloading. And on 5.0 lollipop even loading the task switcher often takes 2-5 seconds.

Shouldn't android at least let the task switcher stay actrice? And is 2-3 apps or websites too much to ask for with 2gb?

This is true. Everyone freaks out about the limited availability and you should not be. Your system and apps need it. :D

yeah, if only it didn't randomly decide to kill apps in the "background", was just in a skype call, minimized to open clock/alarm and sound just went mute.. went back to skype: not even a log of the call, so I assume it was killed due to low ram. **** this bull****.

To all of you that say that RAM should be saturated or full I say I have no idea what planet you're from! The only time my phone lags is when my RAM is very close to full. When I reboot my phone it seems to be the only time that it brings it back down to near 1 GB of use, and then my phone runs smooth. I've been observing my problem and this feed for probably 6 months and I think you guys who say that your RAM should be full are crazy!

Unused RAM in android is wasted RAM. But i do experience lag when RAM is near full on 1gb RAM phones. But never on 2gb RAM phones. Or maybe, your RAM is full because you are using heavy apps and your phone heats up causing it to throttle.
