Let me first start out saying that I am using a Verizon Samsung Galaxy S5 on cricket. I should be having 4G but it doest work even though cricket told me it would. So when I disconnect from wifi my actual phone is really sluggish. It takes forever to pull up anything including my phone dialer. Cricket says it's not their end and my phone is telling me "software update is temporarily unavailable. Try again later." I'm just really confused. My phone is not full and I have plenty of storage space. I have tried erasing the temp cashe, restarted, and even tried updating. I've been using this phone for months and have never experienced this. Please help with no hate.

Your model of phone, the carrier minority variant for Verizon, G900V, will no longer receive firmware updates from Verizon, who release their own firmware and require you to be registered on their network. See #1.6 of 42 Galaxy S5 models - Dummies Guide. You can however, download the latest Verizon firmwares and flash them to your phone using Odin by following the instructions and video contained in the links of #1.11 of the aforementioned Dummies Guide.

As regards 4G/LTE, the Verizon model is only partially compatible with the Cricket/AT&T 4G/LTE network in that it will only connect on Band4-AWS, where available, but not on Cricket's Band17-700MHz or Band2-1900MHz. See, Will My Phone Work?.
