Galaxy S6 calendar notification sounds

On the stock S6 calendar, I have inserted events that I do not want to forget. The calendar used to make a notification sound prior to the event to remind me. Now it has stopped doing that and I'm missing appointments. I can't figure out how to get these sounds back. Please help me. Thank you, in advance.

Welcome to Android Central! Have you actually added a notification to that event? Open the calendar app, select the event, and edit it. Look for the Add Notification option -- is it set?
