AC Question

I want to change my lock screen to "none" so I don't have any lock on my screen. I've searched dozens of forums and everyone keeps saying the same thing yet none of those things works. On the lock screen, "none" and "swipe" are grayed out and say "turned off by administrator, encryption policy or credential storage". People keep saying to "clear credentials" yet when i go there, it is also grayed out. Someone else mentioned a corporate email account being linked to the phone and requiring the screen to lock, but I don't have any corporate email accounts. And someone else mentions deleting other user accounts on the phone, yet there are no other users on my phone, not even a guest user. So now what? And this is for a Galaxy S6, not an S3 or an S4 or an S5 or a Note 2 or Note 3 or Note 4 or Tab 3 or Tab 4. It's a Galaxy S6. Does anyone know the answer?

Welcome to Android Central! Go to Settings>Security>Device Administrators. Is there anything there besides Android Device Manager that's checked on?

Hi. I'm the one who posted the original question..,apparently I had to sign in to reply to you. To answer your question, yes.....there is "Lookout", "Capital One Wallet", and "Android Pay". Everything is "on" except "android pay" which is "off".

Two things you can try:
1. Clear the cache for each of the three active Device administrators( you can only do that if you are still on Lollipop, as far as I know)
2. Untick all three present device admins, restart the phone and try the "none" options again

If that solved the issue, reapply the device admins. I'd leave Lookout unticked.

PS to 1 above. In marshmallow, cache is cleared from the app "storage"

I did these steps:
- Went to "Settings"
- Tapped "Search"
- Typed in the search area:: "Device Administrator"
- Selected "Device Administrators"
- There you'll find the list of what's there, including "Android Device Manager" which is "on"
- Turn "off" anything you see listed here including "Android Device Manager'
- As an extra thing, I also "cleared cache" for each of those things listed in the Device Administrator page by going to "settings", "applications", "application manger", "all", and finding the 3 extra things listed on my "Device Adminsistrator" page. (Android Device Manager is not listed under applications, so just look for anything else that's listed)
- Then i restarted the phone
- Then went back to "settings", "lock screen and security", "screen lock type", and all of the options were available to choose, including "none"...nothing was grayed out anymore.
- Then once I chose "none" for the screen lock, I went back to "device administrator" above and turned "on" everything i had turned "off"
- That's it
