I'm so upset I just bought my fiancé' the Galaxy S6EDGE for mother's day...yes, I said, "Mother's Day and already he's having issues with it... He told me that his phone has a total black screen and he has tried everything... and nothing!!! Maybe its time to go to an IPhone!!!
 
Welcome to Android Central! Does anything light up when it's charging, like a LED notification light? Any falls, trauma, or water exposure? Have you brought the phone back to the store and requested an exchange? With any device, there's always the possibility of defects or unexpected failure--and yes, that includes iPhones as well.

Press and hold power and volume down buttons for about 10 seconds, it should soft reset and boot up.

After it boots up, he should check which app he may have recently installed or to check if he didn't let the phone run out of battery completely.
 
Why are people so quick to jump to iPhone...it's not a cure all lol
