I've had my S6 a year & configured & setup all my settings after I got the phone. I was browsing backup/reset the other day and noticed the option "Backup my data - Use your Samsung account to back up your data". As soon as I tap this option, I see the next screen for around 1 second & then get the message "Samsung account already exists in account manager". From the brief glance I get at the next screen it looks like all the Samsung backup options are disabled/turned off.

When I go into my Samsung account settings I notice sync errors against sync contacts & sync calendar - they haven't synced in 8 days & re-syncing just fails. The logical thing to do would be to remove & try & re-enlist the Samsung account but I get a message telling me doing so will delete all account messages, contacts, data & re-activation lock. Is it safe to remove the account & try re-registering it or will I lose contacts?

Overall I just want to make sure my phone has sufficient backups in the event I lose it or need to reset it. Contacts is the only thing I really care about getting back. Under backup & Reset I can see that back up my data is on, against my gmail account & if I go to gmail I can find all my phone contacts backed up in there under contacts so I presume I could pull it back into my phone from there somehow if need be. When I first got the phone I had to master reset it a couple of times & after re-entering my Samsung & Google credentials all my apps & contacts auto re-loaded back onto my phone, not really sure where from. Because this phone has both Samsung & Google accounts it's not as simple i guess as when I had an iPhone & everything just comes from iCloud. Just frustrates me that the Samsung sync/backups appear to be broken. Does anyone know anything about this?

And on a slightly different note, I notice that under accounts, for facebook my facebook sync which is also against my gmail account is disabled & theres no way i can re-enable it. Tried removing the account, un-installing & re-installing the facebook app & still nothing; annoying this is broken also. I've noticed in the last week my fb app updates are so slow - I still see items from 24 hours ago previously at the top of my news feed & it takes forever to update/refresh with new content whereas I see newer things on a PC or my tablet. Not sure if this is related to the sync issues or issues with the recent Android fb update for S6.

Welcome to Android Central! I can only address the Facebook question--I think the reason why you can't "sync" your Facebook account is that the sync function was originally intended for Contact syncing. Facebook removed that feature from their API some time last year: https://m.facebook.com/help/community/question/?id=1028796497164750. So that's probably why the option is greyed out now.

Regarding the FB app sluggishness, try going to the App Manager, selecting Facebook, and Clearing Cache/Data. Then open it again, log back in, and see if it is still sluggish.

You might also consider wiping the cache partition, which won't erase any personal data: https://support.t-mobile.com/docs/DOC-21095
