Galaxy S6 stock email app not auto-capitalizing

For some reason, all of a sudden today, the stock email app on my Galaxy S6 Edge doesn't auto-capitalize the first word in any sentence except the first one.

- Auto-capitalization is turned on on the Samsung keyboard
- All other apps that I've tried (Textra, AquaMail, etc) work correctly, capitalizing the first word of every sentence.
- I've made no changes that I'm aware of that would impact this setting
- Email app is at v3.3.17, and I'm running Android v6.0.1

ANY help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Also noticed that auto-correct isn't working correctly (again, only in the email app). It's hard to describe, but from what I've noticed, if I type a word using Swype, then go back to edit individual characters in that word, no matter what I type, the letter gets immediately replaced by the first letter of the word. For example, if I Swype "book", then go back to delete the "k" and change it to "t" (to spell "boot") it will try to change it to "bboo" (i.e. instead of just adding a "t", it adds a "b" to the beginning). Very strange. I know some apps updated last night, but since it's the stock email app I don't think it updates via the Play store like other apps (unless I'm wrong) so I have no idea how to check to see if an update was applied that broke the app or not.

I have noticed the same issues as both of you, in the email app only, with all settings set correctly as stated in the first post, on my s7. I have also noticed that it will not automatically add the period when I double tap the space bar at the end of a sentence. It also makes really weird auto corrects such as if I type "hasn't" it will change the t to a ' not matter how many times I correct it. I am used to using my phone for everything, but with these issues, I hate using my phone for emails. I have 4 email accounts going to my phone and all are going unanswered because it is annoying to type a response that ends up with no capitals, punctuation, or correctly spelled words. Does anybody know how to fix this?
Thank you!

My galaxy s7 edge is doing the exact same thing in emails only, text messaging is fine. Even typing here is fine. Also if I try and edit a word it will keep putting letters at the beginning of that word. Very weird, and annoying. It's not just the stock email app though, I also tried the Yahoo mail app and it won't auto punctuate or capitalize either. This has been going on for a few weeks on my phone. I've tried deleting the Samsung keyboard cache and restarting phone, nothing works. Hopefully someone can figure this out!

Same issue here- literally used for work email only. As it's my work phone.

For now using Outlook App where the keyboard works as it should. Hopefully someone fixes this soon. I've tried everything, went through this with support and steps provided did nothing but make it worse actually.

Exact same issue here. I'm on a Galaxy s7 and it only happens when I'm in the native email app. It started happening about 5 days ago. At first it wasn't capitalizing the start of the next sentence but now it changes my words and won't let me correct it. I've used other keyboards which fixes it but I really don't like them compared to the Samsung keyboard. I'm guessing the keyboard was updated and hopefully Samsung is getting complaints and will fix it.

Same thing is going on with my s7. I'm actually on it right now typing this, and it won't add periods automatically in the browser either. I have to hit space 3x before it will add one. Really annoying

Switching keyboards does work. I'm using the Google keyboard, and it works fine now

Wooohoo! Thank you! That fixed it. The trick is.. you have to go into Application manager then "more", then "show system apps", open "Android system Webview", tap force stop then disable... now switch back to Samsung keyboard and you should be to go!!

I found out I actually like the Google keyboard more than the Samsung keyboard. I'm keeping it. Glad you guys found a work around

Seems Google (was responsible and) has solved the bug, the Beta version of Android System Webview in Play Store (v. 55.0.2883.36) working fine with Samsung Keyboard again. The current version (54.0.2840.68) has the problem.

Applications Manager
Select "Android WebView"
Select "More" in upper right hand corner
Hit "uninstall" update

This should do it. This is the second time I've had to do this.

Uninstall the "Android WebView" update (which seems to have uninstalled the App itself) has eliminated the problem. Go into Applications Manager, select the Android WebView app, select "more" in the upper right-hand corner, hit "uninstall update".

You are great. Took me seconds to get rid of what had troubled me for days
