galaxy s7 battery draining super fast

Ive had my galaxy s7 for a year and a half and have for most of it the battery gas been fine. in the last week however, my battery is draining super fast, like 1% every minute or so. this morning i tried updating it, clearing apps cache as well as cache partition but it hasnt seemed to help. does anyone know why??
ive currently dropped 100-68% in 20 minutes of normal/light use

What carrier are you with? I'm on at&t and seeing the exact same issue from last week. I have had great stand by time with my S7 though it took slight hit with Nougat update earlier this year. But now it' like losing over 25% overnight, which used to be around 3~4% normally. I even turned off google now, exchange email sync, but it makes no difference. Battery stats show it's mostly consumed by android system and cell standby.

Is the phone hardware broken suddenly or is it bad software update doing this?

I tried turning off WiFi and it seems to stop excessive stand by draining. But it's no good having to turning off WiFi to preserve battery. I read on S6 forums that turning off VoLTE (HD voice) solved it. Might give it try with WiFi on.

Still, I think at&t should solve it via OS update.

Yes, that's correct.

I tried disabling it with WiFi on. Still lots of drain, only slightly better than HD voice enabled. It seems cell standby with WiFi on is the main culprit as I suspected.

I've had the S7 since launch and the battery life has gotten horrible. I'm a moderate to heavy user most days, and I guess you can expect the battery to work well for so long. I had the same issue with my S5 after a year+ of use, but at least I was able to swap the battery out!
