Android Central Question

Hi there, so when I use my GPS app, it works just fine as long as I leave the screen unlocked and on. When it is locked however, the phone "loses" GPS signal and as soon as it is unlocked it acquires it immediately. This is obviously drains more battery and slows charging some and it is very annoying. Is it an app conflict or what?
Thanks

First, the GPS receiver uses minimal current.

Second, which app do you expect to see your location on if the screen is locked? In order to see your location, the screen has to be unlocked, so I'm guessing that the GPS receiver is being turned off when the screen is locked just to save even that little bit of current. (Re-acquiring lock takes almost no time if it's a warm start, which being off for a few minutes would be.)

Late to the party, but since this is the first link that came up when I searched my problem, it turned out to be because I turned on battery saving mode (medium) and forgot about it. Was driving me nuts when using Android Auto (which uses my car's display).
