Highly disappointing. LG did the same thing with the G5 as well. It's very annoying to have these two companies pay lip service to security and then fail to execute on the obvious moves that help improve it. The two most obvious are the monthly security updates which both committed to and adoptable storage. Now there are some factors of not being able to deliver on monthly updates that are outside of the OEM's control and a good reason for them to not make such promises. But there are no reasons outside of their control that they couldn't have kept the more secure mode intact here. In-fact the opposite is true. The default setting is more secure. They had to go out of their way here to sabotage it.

Yeah. This was disappointing. I mean realistically I have a 32gb s6 now and haven't come close to the storage limit but still. It kind of takes away from the 'sd card is back' celebration.

They should at least give you the option to utilize 'adoptable storage' if you want.

But in general, it's super cool they brought back the SD card, love having a massive music collection on the card.

Probably because they want to dumb it out for the lowest denominator. It isn't a big deal since it has 32gb internal

I suspect Samsung is waiting til most of the S6 (all models) 64/128GB phones are sold, then they'll issue an OTA update for the S7's to enable adoptive storage. Given the specs and features of the GS7, I see no reason to buy the 64/128GB versions of the S6's unless a really major price drop occurs.

Yep. I was very interested in the S7 until I realized no adoptable storage and only 32gb. That's definitely a deal breaker. If I can't install apps on a minimum of 64gb, I'm not interested. No, I don't have that many apps, but my current phone (Nexus 6p), I have 20 of the 64gb used by apps. On the s6 there was about 22 gb available on initial power on, so yea, 32gb only is a deal breaker for me. Sad too because this phone seems awesome.

Although this probably means that the new direction for the Note line is to offer higher app-installable storage options while keeping the Galaxy S phones on the lower end.
