galaxy s8+ cannot pull down notification tray

[Android Central Question]

Ive had a sudden issue with my phone where the notification tray will not pull down - except for when the phone is locked. when the phone is on the lock screen I can access the tray fine, so the screen seems to work as far as sensing touch

im not sure what caused this, it quite literally began in the middle of browsing twitter. I havent installed any apps in the last few months and im at a loss, nothing ive googled has helped

I have done that and it didnt seem to help - it still didnt work while safe mode was active and nothing ive found has suggested any specific actions while in safe mode

No change unfortunately - the tray still works on the lock screen but not once the device is unlocked

Try safe mode ? Also clear cache in recovery
