Android Central Question

I switched to a S8 from iPhone last month. I really like the phone, but not message tones. I had a different message tone for different contacts on my iPhone. I go into my contacts d's app and change them on my S8, but it doesn't work. Its always the default tone. According to Samsung chat help, you can't set individual tones on any android product. Any ideas?

Samsung chat help is not really helpful then, what a shame. Of course you can assign indivual call AND SMS tones to contacts.

For this go to the contacts (from the phone icône), view the details of any contacts and touch "Modify" in the upper right corner. There you'll notice (maybe) at the top something like tabs with at least "Samsung" and "Phone" (and possibly other depending on what messaging apps you have). For the "Samsung" or "Phone" tabs if you scroll down you'll see a "Ringtone" and a "message tone" and you can assign whatever you want.

Note : I'm not sure if the menu name are exact as I translate them from French.

Note 2 : If your contacts are from an e-mail app, the e-mail app may also have a ringtone option. For instance, I use "Nine" and you can select a ringtone in this application. The same applies to SMS or Messaging app, for SMS, one of the app I use is textra and you can assign a tone for a contact (or a conversation I can't remember well)
