Galaxy S8 v. Galaxy S7 Camera test

This raises my hopes for the camera. Any improvement is better than none at all.

That fixed software processing is doing wonders

Thanks for the link 😃

The specs on paper for the Galaxy S7 look very similar to the Galaxy S8 but it's good to see they have made some improvements. There wasn't much talk this time around with the camera. As other have said, any improvement is greatly appreciated 😃

It's the same lens and sensor that was in the s7.
Not entirely.

The specs are similar, but the S7 used either a Samsung ISOCELL S5K2L1 or a Sony Exmor IMX260. The S8 uses either an ISOCELL S5K2L2 or a Sony Exmor IMX333.

As mentioned before, specs are similar, though they may have different construction.

where did you find this info? all the handon reviews say it's the same camera. Good to know the actual hardware is updated too

Coming from an S6, I found it odd while playing with a demo S8 that Samsung has the camera back defaulting to 4:3 aspect images. Did the S7 do this, too? We get an extra tall/wide aspect phone in the S8, but go back to old school 4:3 aspect images? Seems an odd choice to me anyways. To get the full 12MP, you have to be in 4:3 mode. Switching to widescreen/16:9 images, dropped it back to 9MP.

The sensor shoots in 4:3

Hm, the video quality isn't the best overall, but I do love all of the now visible and brighter colors that the s8 captures
