Android Central Question

My Samsung Galaxy S9 updated today to Android Pie, and I'll openly admit I completely hate it. So much changed and I've had to try to make some workarounds for things that swapped places.

My biggest problem is that they took away the Wifi and Data icon on the top bar, which I relied on heavily because of a limited data plan. I don't want to have to constantly switch menus to get it back and check to ensure I'm connected, or that maybe the reason why I'm getting slowed down is because I have no connection. Can someone please help me out? I really hate this update and I'm too concerned about rooting as an inexperienced user.

Can you make a screenshot? Because I have wifi and data icons. I'm not really sure what are you talking about.

Same here. WiFi and data icons are at the top and showing when data is uploading or downloading on my phone.

Also if your that concerned, just download a data monitor app in the play store. There are some good ones.

Hey, OP here. I had to register to get any kind of link posted. Sorry about that!

So what I'm referring to is this bar, sorry if this isn't the name for it. I'm not sure why it's gone, and I really do rely on it because, as a university student, if my wifi mysteriously goes down I need to know I'm not connected or in an area of unstable connection.

Ok. Now I'm pretty sure you have Good Lock installed because the clock is on the left in Pie now. Yours is on the right.

Or...

Your theme isn't compatible with Pie. Switch to default and see if it changes anything.

Yeah, I had to install the app last night because I wanted my clock back on the right, lmao. But as for the theme, that's the thing. I'm not using a theme. I literally just have a wallpaper set and that's it. I never changed the default.

So icons disappeared because of Good Lock. A lot of icons are turned off by default when you install it. You just need to re-enable them.

They were gone prior to me installing Good Lock, but I'll check out the app and update you on what I find.

That problem is probably caused by Good Lock, as posted above, but just in case switch to the default theme if you are using a different one. Some themes have not been fully updated to Pie and could cause some conflicts.

Okay, after doing some browsing through Good Lock, I was able to get my icons back. Thank you guys so much for helping me out. While I'm not fond with how Pie looks, at least I have my icons again and I can sleep a bit easier, lmao. Thanks again, and special thanks to krisqz.
